MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – The bill on amending the laws that regulate the operation of political parties and other public associations will be introduced in the parliament within the next six months, BelTA learned from the MP Gennady Davydko on 11 December.
Gennady Davydko has been nominated for the position of the chairman of the Human Rights, National Relations, and Mass Media Commission.
The MP noted: “The commission has to continue improving the legislation in order to make sure the basic rights and freedoms of citizens are observed as fully as possible. Within the next half a year we expect the House of Representatives to get draft bills on the operation of political parties and other public associations, on the citizenship of the Republic of Belarus. The practice of discussing bills with a broad spectrum of interested individuals, including representatives of public organizations, government agencies, the scientific community, and the private sector, will be continued.”
The MP noted the monitoring of the law enforcement practice will be another task of the commission. “Offsite sessions of the commission, the organization of roundtable sessions and seminars, and the systemic analysis of queries submitted by individuals and corporations should become important tools in this work,” Gennady Davydko added.
The commission will also prioritize active participation in advancing a constructive dialogue on human rights between Belarus and international organizations for the sake of studying the best international practices.
