Belarusian foreign minister's visit to Warsaw cancelled, video conference used instead

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei has held negotiations with Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacek Czaputowicz and Commissioner for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Piotr Naimski via a video conference, BelTA has learned.

At the beginning of the video conference Vladimir Makei explained he had intended to visit Poland in person but the visit had been cancelled due to the development of the coronavirus situation. The ministers decided not to postpone negotiations and arranged a video conference instead. “Unfortunately, I was unable to come to Warsaw on an official visit on 19-20 March. But it is good we can meet this way thanks to advances in technology,” Vladimir Makei said.

“I am practicing using these technologies,” his Polish counterpart joked in return.

Vladimir Makei confirmed the readiness to visit Warsaw once the opportunity arises. He stressed that there are plenty of topics for discussion.
