MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) - The globalist Western system is incapable of operating in the interests of global development, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov said as he addressed the Summit for a Sustainable, Inclusive and Resilient Global Economy in New York on 24 September, BelTA has learned.
“We are witnessing the fragmentation of the global economy. This is an inevitable result of the selfish policies of Western countries. It has become abundantly clear that this 'globalist' system is incapable of operating in the interests of global development. This understanding, in turn, necessitates the creation of a new, fair, multilateral architecture for development," Maxim Ryzhenkov said.
He noted that the core of this new system already exists in the form of regional associations such as the SCO, ASEAN, the EAEU, the Arab League and the international forums like BRICS, which are not tied to the Western economic model. “The potential of this emerging architecture was vividly demonstrated at the recent 25th anniversary summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in China,” the diplomat said.

Maxim Ryzhenkov also stressed that international commitments on development aid should not depend on the political preferences of donor countries. He also stated that all external obstacles hindering the financial stability of states at the national level must be eliminated. “Illegal sanctions, trade and currency wars, outrageous tariffs, financial seizures, and restrictions on access to innovations and investments diminish the financial potential of states,” the Belarusian minister said.
