Belarus pays considerable attention to inter-parliamentary cooperation with Pakistan

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – Belarus pays considerable attention to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation with Pakistan, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Sergei Rachkov told the media, BelTA has learned.

"Today, at a meeting of the Council of the House of Representatives, we discussed the topical issue of Belarus-Pakistan cooperation in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached following the visit of the Speaker of the Pakistani Parliament to Belarus. We have built very constructive and trusting relations with Pakistan. The visit of the Speaker to our country confirmed this. We reviewed how the legal framework of our cooperation works. We have about 90 international treaties in force. Certainly, we focus on facilitating the government's work in trade and economy, manufacturing industry and agriculture," Sergei Rachkov noted.

According to him, trade between Belarus and Pakistan has gained momentum recently. "We considered the interaction with Pakistan specifically on the parliamentary level. Prospects are very promising. Pakistan shows interest in Belarus. Friendship groups have been established at the two parliaments. We also joined the work of the intergovernmental commission and various working groups formed within the framework of this commission," he said.
