Record high amount of Belarusian electricity sold to Ukraine in January-May

MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Belarus supplied $25 million worth of electricity to Ukraine in January-May 2021, BelTA learned from Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol on 20 July.

The official said: “We've always spoken and acted the way we should if we are to serve interests of the Ukrainian people, Ukrainian consumers. In January-May 2021 we sold $25 million worth of electricity to Ukraine. The figure has never been that high.”

The ambassador stressed that the Belarusian side is ready to continue helping Ukraine with electricity supplies as much as possible. “We lent our shoulder when accidents happened at Ukrainian power plants in January-February. Ukrenergo contacted Belenergo and the system kicked in instantly,” the diplomat noted.
