MOSCOW, 26 March (BelTA) - Union State parliamentarians will oversee the development and implementation of new programs, projects and events. This decision was made at a joint meeting of the commissions on budget, taxes and financial markets, on economic policy, and on transport of the Parliamentary Assembly (PA) of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Russia’s Ufa on 26 March, BelTA has learned from the PA press office.
The meeting summed up the preliminary results of the Union State budget execution for 2025 and reviewed progress in developing programs, projects and initiatives. According to the provided information, the revenue part of the 2025 budjet was executed in the amount of RUB 7,617.2 million, or 100.15% of the annual budget assignments. Cash execution reached RUB6,834.7 million, or 96.11% of the plan.
The Union State budget provided funding for seven programs, two projects, and 43 initiatives of the Union State, including a new one “Humanitarian aid to residents of affected areas in Kursk Oblast and Belgorod Oblast.” For most programs and initiatives, execution rates stood between 90% and 100%.
“The MPs hailed active efforts to increase the number of Union State programs and initiatives. Among them are the program ‘Technology platform for identifying new molecular targets: membrane proteins and their complexes’ (Union-Biomembranes), the project to set up a Union State tourist information center and others. In addition, efforts are underway to launch the cross-border suburban passenger rail service on the Smolensk-Vitebsk and Smolensk-Orsha routes," the press office said.

The 2026 Union State budget also plans funding for programs, projects, and initiatives in environmental protection, patriotic education, and social policy. Work is in progress on a project to eliminate the obsolete pesticides disposal sites and to devise a neutralization technology and on a joint program to deal with the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. A patriotic event is planned at the Kobrin fortification of the Brest Hero Fortress and at the Avangard defense and sports camp in Volgograd Oblast in the summer 2026.
“The progress in these projects is under the control of the Parliamentary Assembly commissions, which will ensure their timely implementation and efficient use of budget funds,” the press office emphasized.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Union State Permanent Committee, the State Control Committee of Belarus, the Accounts Chamber of Russia and also the education, transport, economy and finance ministries of both countries.
