Minister: COVID did not disrupt Belarus' forestry industry operation in 2020

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – The forestry industry was operating smoothly throughout 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Forestry Minister Vitaly Drozhzha told journalists prior to a meeting of the ministry's board on 18 February, BelTA has learned.

Answering a question about the impact of the pandemic on the forestry sector's operation in 2020, the minister noted that there were not many coronavirus cases among the forestry industry employees. “We didn't have any disruptions because of the epidemic. Some people worked from home, but not many. The pandemic did not affect our cooperation with partners who kept buying our products. In addition to that, when Europe went into lockdown people embarked on large-scale landscaping. The demand for rounded and debarked wood has grown,” Vitaly Drozhzha said.

“We can say that the pandemic did not affect any aspects of our operation, including financing, lending, or equipment supplies,” the minister noted.
