Karankevich: Belarus, Oman are opening a new chapter in cooperation

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Oman are opening a new chapter in their relationship, as they have built a solid foundation for mutually beneficial collaboration across a wide range of fields, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Viktor Karankevich said as he met with Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik bin Taimur Al Said. The meeting was hosted by the Council of Ministers, BelTA has learned.

“I am pleased to continue the trusting and open dialogue our leaders began yesterday during the talks at the Palace of Independence. His Majesty the Sultan’s first state visit to Belarus was a historic milestone in our bilateral relations, and I am confident it truly opens a new chapter in our cooperation,” said Viktor Karankevich.

He emphasized that Belarus highly values Oman’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, noting that the leaders’ talks were held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. “The dialogue between Belarus and Oman stands as a model of equal, trusting, and mutually beneficial cooperation. The significant progress in our relations in recent years has laid a solid foundation for deepening our collaboration in many fields,” said Viktor Karankevich.
The landmark outcome of yesterday’s talks was the signing of a bilateral cooperation roadmap for 2026-2027. This document charts a course for specific intersectoral collaboration, supported by a package of documents in agriculture, logistics, healthcare, and justice. Further strengthening the partnership, the parties concluded a mutual visa-waiver agreement, agreed to launch joint investment projects, and initiated steps to promote tourism and business exchanges.

“I am confident that the agreements reached will encourage the business community to work more actively to increase the mutual flow of goods and services, and implement joint projects in manufacturing and food security. Belarus is interested in fully utilizing Oman’s logistics potential, its free economic zones, and its modernized infrastructure to jointly promote products to markets in the Gulf, Middle East, and East Africa,” said Viktor Karankevich.

Belarus also seeks to deepen humanitarian ties by promoting cultural and educational exchanges and fostering the growth of mutual tourism.
“We have laid a strong foundation for our partnership through our joint accomplishments. I am confident that we will be able to successfully implement the projects we have planned, delivering tangible benefits for our people. You have my assurance that Belarus will fully honor all agreements reached,” Viktor Karankevich said.

The deputy prime minister of the Sultanate of Oman thanked Belarus for the warm welcome and hospitality.
“It is an honor for us to undertake this first visit to Belarus under the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman. This visit builds upon the momentum created by the Belarusian leader’s trip to Oman last December. We are sure that the ongoing dialogue between the two leaders will mark a strategic upgrade in our partnership, paving the way for fruitful collaboration on investment, trade, and economic projects for the benefit of our states and peoples,” said Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik bin Taimur Al Said.
