GOMEL, 25 March (BelTA) - Belarus’ Gomel Oblast and Tashkent Region of Uzbekistan concluded a protocol of intent on cooperation. The document was signed by Governor of Gomel Oblast Ivan Krupko and Khokim of Tashkent Region Zoir Mirzayev, BelTA leaned from the Gomel regional administration.
Regional cooperation across the board was the key focus of the meeting. The parties discussed student education, employment opportunities for Uzbek citizens in high-demand professions, medical and sightseeing tourism.

“Preparing for the visit, Gomel enterprises explored additional areas of cooperation. As part of yesterday’s business forum in Tashkent, a number of cooperation documents were signed, including commercial agreements. We see opportunities for boosting economic cooperation through the diversification of our trade,” Ivan Krupko said.
The head of Tashkent Region proposed establishing a joint investment council to coordinate cooperation between the regions. The idea was supported by the Belarusian side. The meeting resulted in signing the protocol.
BelTA reported earlier that a delegation from Gomel Oblast led by the head of the regional administration is currently on an official visit to Uzbekistan. The itinerary is quite busy. The delegation, which includes representatives of major industrial enterprises and holding companies, is meeting with partners and discussing prospects for bilateral relations. In addition to new agreements B2B negotiations, bilateral business meetings, and the exchange of useful information are expected to take place.
