GOMEL, 26 March (BelTA) – A cooperation roadmap between Belarus’ Gomel Oblast and Uzbekistan’s Fergana Oblast for 2026-2027 was signed on 26 March following a meeting between the heads of the two regions, Ivan Krupko and Khayrullo Bozarov, during the visit of a delegation from Gomel Oblast to Uzbekistan, the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee told BelTA.
The regional leaders expressed confidence that the roadmap will strengthen cooperation and serve as a foundation for implementing joint projects and intensifying cooperation.
As the committee recalled, the first interregional agreement between Gomel Oblast and Fergana Oblast was signed in 2019. According to Ivan Krupko, the regions have maintained constant contact since then, exchanging visits by official and business delegations and participating in exhibitions and forums. Last year, delegations from Fergana Oblast visited Gomel Oblast twice. These business exchanges resulted in contracts and commercial agreements.
A cooperation agreement was also signed between the chambers of commerce and industry of the two regions.
In addition, the parties agreed to establish an interregional economic council to oversee cooperation between the regions, which will allow them to coordinate efforts quarterly and promptly address emerging issues.
As it was previously reported, the Gomel Oblast delegation, led by the region’s head, is currently on an official visit to Uzbekistan. The delegation, which includes representatives of major industrial enterprises and holdings, is meeting with partners and discussing prospects for bilateral cooperation.
