Belarusian PM vows support for private farm development

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin visited the Spartan-Agro private farming enterprise in Molodechno District, which specializes in growing apples and other agricultural produce, the press service of the government told BelTA.

Weather conditions this year have affected the farm’s yield, with apple production expected to reach no more than 300 tonnes against planned 3,000 tonnes. Issues of possible state support were discussed, as well as expanding the range of products, constructing a vegetable storage facility, and supplying produce to retail chains.
The prime minister also spoke with the local farmer Igor Pakush, who shared his plans for developing production. The farmer discussed prospects for growing vegetables, grapes, and potatoes, as well as ambitious processing projects, particularly for French fries production.

The prime minister supported the ideas for developing such enterprises, noting that this would increase their profitability. Aleksandr Turchin gave instructions to explore possible forms of state support and assured that the government stands ready to help resolve the outlined issues.
