MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – Belarusian enterprises will make $25 billion worth of import substitutes this year, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar on 16 May.
Yuri Chebotar said: “We constantly and systematically work on import substitution. We worked out regional and industry-specific action plans at the beginning of the year even before all the events that closed the markets and we keep working to carry out the plans. These plans will only be expanded with the relevant projects and events. It is necessary to make $25 billion worth of import substitutes this year alone. We engage all categories of enterprises in this work.”
In his words, about 2,500 enterprises are busy making some 3,000 import substitutes. As many as 250 investment projects are in progress. “Together with colleagues we monitor these projects and provide support if there are problems,” the official noted.
