Belarusian electric vehicles used as part of mass transit systems in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan

MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) – What countries already use Belarusian electric vehicles as part of mass transit systems and what markets are expected to start getting regular deliveries have been revealed by Deputy Director General for Marketing and Sales of BKM Holding Company Aleksandr Kazakevich in an interview with the First News TV Channel, BelTA has learned.

According to the executive, the Russian Federation is the main export market for the Belarusian enterprise. “It is a spacious market and we treasure our reputation on the market. At the same time we understand that our country as a whole, our manufacturing sector, and in particular our enterprise need to diversify,” Aleksandr Kazakevich emphasized.

“We have the experience of delivering our vehicles to countries like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, however, we cannot call these countries our traditional markets. Nowadays our efforts on these markets prioritize laying the groundwork that will allow us to be present on this market and sell our products on a systemic basic instead of individual shipments,” the deputy director general stressed.

Speaking about preferences of foreign clients, the deputy director general mentioned visual solutions for the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod as an example. “Silhouettes of the city’s places of interest have been painted on the glass in order to integrate the vehicles into the urban environment as much as possible. We are now actively working with customers on the possibility of shipping tram cars. They insist on increasing the autonomous range of the tram cars from the standard distance of 5km to 20km. It is a technicality but it is sufficiently unusual from the point of view of standard vehicles,” Aleksandr Kazakevich added. The executive added that there are quite many examples like this.

BKM Holding (formerly known as Belkommunmash) is a leading manufacturer of ground electric urban transport vehicles in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The company designs, makes, sells, modernizes, and performs maintenance of trolleybuses, trams, electrobuses, freight electric vehicles, and charging stations.
