
MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus remained WTA world number one after reaching the Indian Wells final, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian extended her lead over second-placed Iga Swiatek of Poland to 2,231 points despite her loss in the Indian Wells final on 16 March. 17-year-old Indian Wells winner Mirra Andreeva of Russia rose to a career high of sixth in the world rankings. Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka goes 32nd, Aliaksandra Sasnovich is 115th. This week the world’s best tennis players will compete in the Miami Open.
