MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) – Belarusian figure skater Viktoriia Safonova has secured a quota to the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, BelTA has learned.
The figure skating qualifier took place in Beijing, with twenty-five athletes competing in the women’s singles event. A combined total of 181.91 points from her short and free programs was enough for Belarus’ Viktoriia Safonova to take fourth place and claim an Olympic spot, with the top five skaters qualifying for Milan. Other athletes to qualify were Russia’s Adeliia Petrosian, Belgium’s Loena Hendrickx, Georgia’s Anastasiia Gubanova, and China’s Zhang Ruiyang.
Viktoriia Safonova already has Olympic experience: at the 2022 Beijing Olympics she placed 13th.
