MINSK, 26 December (BelTA) – The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Kazakhstan has held a cultural and gastronomic event called Belarusian Cuisine Day, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The meeting was aimed at popularizing national traditions, strengthening humanitarian ties, and advancing the Belarusian-Kazakhstani intercultural dialogue. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Kazakhstan Aleksei Bogdanov addressed participants with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the significance of national cuisine as an important part of cultural heritage and an effective tool of grassroots diplomacy, contributing to the strengthening of friendship and mutual understanding between the nations of Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The concert program included performances by the Vyaselka [rainbow] ensemble of the Belarusian cultural center Radzima [Motherland] and by the vocalist Svetlana Obukhova, Honored Worker of Culture of Kazakhstan.

The guests were particularly interested in a master class on cooking a traditional Belarusian dish, draniki, which was conducted by Viktoria Bogdanova, wife of the ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Kazakhstan. In a warm and informal atmosphere the participants learned about home traditions and the secrets of Belarusian cuisine.

The event allowed guests to get familiar with the unique Belarusian culture through national cuisine, music, and folk art. The program included tastings of traditional Belarusian dishes and drinks as well as creative master classes on traditional decorative and applied arts: painting tableware using the decoupage technique and Belarusian vytsinanka [the art of paper cutting, which originated in Belarus in the 16th century], which aroused keen interest among the guests. The central visual accent was a photo zone in the national style featuring Belarusian symbols.

The organization of the Belarusian Cuisine Day has become a significant cultural event, fostering stronger ties of friendship, the development of humanitarian cooperation, and the formation of a positive image of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
