Russia provides legal assistance to Belarus promptly, in accordance with law

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) - Russian colleagues provide assistance promptly and in strict accordance with the law, Belarusian Prosecutor General Andrei Shved told reporters after a working meeting with Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov in Minsk on 28 October, BelTA has learned.

"As for interaction with Russian colleagues, we get assistance in all areas. 80% of our requests for legal assistance is sent to the Russian Federation. Our colleagues fulfill these requests promptly, in strict accordance with the law," Andrei Shved said, adding that there was not a single case when Russia would refuse to extradite criminals

Belarus acts the same way, the prosecutor general emphasized. "Belarus, too, resolves all the issues in the interests of the Russian law enforcement promptly and very efficiently," he said.

Meanwhile, Andrei Shved noted that Western colleagues "do not actually fulfill requests, do not extradite criminals, even those charged with ordinary crimes."

Belarusian Prosecutor General Andrei Shved noted that the Prosecutor General's Offices of both countries have developed truly partnership and friendly relations. In his report, Andrei Shved touched upon topical issues of interaction between the supervisory agencies, including international legal cooperation, countering extremism, investigating the criminal case into the genocide of the Belarusian population during the Great Patriotic War and the post-war period.
