MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian nuclear power plant generates positive impressions. Wang Tingkui (China), an advisor with the Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO MC), made the statement after a preliminary visit as part of the first operational peer review of the Belarusian nuclear power plant and after watching personnel of the main control room operate a full-scale equipment simulator in the nuclear power plant’s education and training center, representatives of the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant told BelTA.
As part of the event the personnel were taught methodology and practical approaches to carrying out crew performance observation. The CPO methodology allows evaluating the knowledge and skills of operating personnel with regard to actions in complicated simulated scenarios in normal operation conditions, violations of normal operation, and in emergencies. The experts also evaluated the introduction of significant operating experience reports (SOER) by the Belarusian nuclear power plant and collected preliminary data before the beginning of a peer review.
Wang Tingkui mentioned successful work of the operating personnel with regard to the accomplishment of practical tasks formulated by experts and underlined the high level of professionalism of Belarusian specialists.
“I got positive impressions from the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The personnel are skilled. The instructors operating the equipment simulator are experienced. The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a young installation. I know your leadership is intent on making the Belarusian nuclear power plant the best nuclear power plant in the world. I wish you to succeed. I also wish you reliable and safe operation,” the expert said to summarize results of the visit.
