MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – At the 2nd Youth Military-Patriotic Forum, young people have an additional opportunity to gain new knowledge, make friends and meet professionals in their field, member of the Council of the Republic and Gomel Oblast military commissar Andrei Krivonosov said at the opening of the national event in Gomel, BelTA has learned.
He welcomed the participants on behalf of the Council of the Republic, which initiated the forum. “Ahead of the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory, more than 300 participants from across the country have gathered in Gomel. These are young people with strong character and convictions, with caring and passionate hearts. We are united by patriotism, love for the Motherland, sincerity and solidarity. The time when patriotism was simply a state of mind is long gone. Today it is daily, meticulous work: a readiness to respond to challenges and defend historical truth,” the military commissar said.

Andrei Krivonosov recalled that the heroic generation of grandfathers and great-grandfathers defended their homeland during the Great Patriotic War, preserved the freedom and independence of the Belarusian people, secured Victory, and later rebuilt towns and villages. “Today you, too, stand in formation, wear uniforms and learn the basics of military training. You are the ones who understand the value of honorable actions. I am convinced that you represent true patriotism and the readiness to defend the Motherland and our traditional values,” he said.

According to the military commissar, forum participants can also serve as role models for younger children. Military-patriotic movements, units, clubs and classes exist to bring together young people who care, who know how to build real friendships and love their land sincerely, not for show.
“At this forum, you have an additional opportunity to gain knowledge, meet new friends and interact with professionals. The most important thing you will take away from here is the understanding that you are a strong, united team with a future ahead of you. It is you who will develop and strengthen a strong and independent Belarus,” Andrei Krivonosov stressed. He wished the participants to uphold the best traditions, serve the Motherland with integrity, preserve their honor and not fear difficult decisions. “Always remember: patriotism begins with each of us,” he added.

II The 2nd Youth Military-Patriotic Forum is taking place in Gomel on 6-7 May. It has brought together more than 300 young people from across the country.
