Literary festival kicks off in Belarus' Polotsk

VITEBSK, 11 March (BelTA) – The literary festival “Center of Europe” has kicked off in Polotsk, BelTA learned from the culture department of the Polotsk District Executive Committee.

The festival has been gathering pace. The program of the festival features a literary competition. In 2020, it brought together 215 participants from 12 countries. The main goal of the event is to find and promote talented authors as well as to give Polotsk more significance in the field of literature, the Polotsk District Executive Committee noted.

The literary competition consists of two rounds. The first round is an open online competition in such categories as poetry, flash fiction, literary translation, and several others. Applications will stay open through 25 April, after which the best works will be shortlisted for the second round. Their authors will be invited to the offline part of the festival due in late May. The program of the festival will include several contests, poetry readings, book presentations, excursions, conferences, roundtables, masterclasses, and other activities. The second round of the literary competition will wrap up with an awards ceremony.

Eligible for participation in the literary competition are authors aged 18 and older who write in the Belarusian or Russian languages. Detailed information about the competition and the festival is available on the website of the Polotsk District centralized library system – www.skorina-lib.by.
