Aliyev: We value trust-based partnership between Belarus, Azerbaijan

BAKU, 16 May (BelTA) – Azerbaijan values trust-based partnership with Belarus, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the expanded talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 16 May, BelTA has learned.

According to Ilham Aliyev, during the narrow-format talks the two leaders had an in-depth discussion of many issues on the bilateral, regional and international agenda. The parties confirmed the strategic nature of bilateral relations.

“We value the trust-based and creative partnership between our countries, which is based on mutual respect, friendship and cooperation,” Ilham Aliyev emphasized. “This relationship is time-tested. I think that no one doubts that Belarus and Azerbaijan are reliable friends.”

The day before, the delegations of the two countries had the opportunity to communicate and the president of Azerbaijan described these contacts as “very effective, positive”; many unresolved issues were raised.

Ilham Aliyev was very optimistic about bilateral cooperation prospects. He believes the two countries can grow their trade and expand cooperation in the manufacturing sector. He noted that Azerbaijan would be happy if Belarusian companies participated in its post-war rebuilding effort. According to Ilham Aliyev, this topic was also discussed by members of the delegations.

“Our cooperation is quite multifaceted, has a long history and bright prospects,” Ilham Aliyev added.
