Belarus invited to take part in Azerbaijan’s post-conflict rebuilding

BAKU, 16 May (BelTA) – Belarus has been invited to take part in the post-conflict rebuilding of Azerbaijan’s affected territory, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev told the media after talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 16 May, BelTA has learned.

“I have invited Belarusian companies to take an active part in the restoration of the Karabakh and East Zangezur Region. The scale of works we are carrying out and are yet to perform is massive,” the president of Azerbaijan said.

According to him, the country has to actually restore a significant territory from scratch now. There is a need for infrastructure development and the construction of housing, public buildings and so on. “Therefore, we invite Belarusian companies to actively engage in this work,” Ilham Aliyev said. “Belarus has a very good experience in urban development, modern technologies, experience in construction of agro-towns.”

The priority goals for Azerbaijan do not only include the provision of residents with housing and social infrastructure but also the creation of jobs for them. Belarus can also help in this area by developing industrial, trade and economic cooperation with Azerbaijan.
