Agenda for upcoming CIS Heads of Government Council announced

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) - Acting CIS Deputy Secretary General Nurlan Seitimov announced the agenda for the upcoming CIS Heads of Government Council meeting in Ashgabat as he spoke to the media on 16 May, BelTA has learned.

“It is expected that 12 issues will be submitted to the CIS Heads of Government for consideration. In a one-on-one meeting, the heads of the delegations will exchange views and discuss topical issues of the CIS economic development. The agenda also includes a wider range of issues related to the overall interaction within the CIS,” Nurlan Seitimov said.

According to him, the focus will be on cooperation in the economic, energy, scientific, technical and humanitarian areas. “It is expected that a number of concepts will be approved in chemical industry, hazardous waste management and elimination of objects of accumulated environmental damage, and also the energy sector until 2035. Action plans will also be adopted to implement these concepts,” Nurlan Seitimov said. “The participants of the meeting are set to approve the action plan for optimization of infrastructure and development of international transport corridors passing through the CIS countries through 2030. The document will improve transport infrastructure with agreed technical parameters and transportation technologies.”

The CIS plenipotentiaries are holding a regular meeting at the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk on 16 May. The plenipotentiaries are expected to discuss the preparations for the 30th Minsk International Film Festival Listapad, as well as the preparations for the next meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council, scheduled for 24 May. The meeting will also focus attention on the sports potential of the city of Ashgabat.
