BREST, 17 April (BelTA) - Russian regions show interest in visiting the patriotic center in the Brest Fortress, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Piotr Parkhomchik.
“The center is in great demand abroad, for example, in Russia. Many governors are contacting us, both by letter and by phone, eager for children from Russian regions to come and spend time here. A large group of children will come from Volgograd (50 people). I received a letter from my colleague in Penza with a request to host 20 children. He is ready to welcome 20 of Belarusian children at the Gvardeyets military-patriotic training camp. There is a good exchange within the Union State, where children can communicate and share their life experience,” Piotr Parkhomchik said.
According to him, guests will gain better knowledge of Brest Oblast and Belarus. “Our plan is to give an opportunity for children who undergo training and rest here, to learn about the city’s infrastructure, historical landmarks and industrial enterprises,” Piotr Parkhomchik noted.
On 17 April, he visited the patriotic center and inspected the progress of its construction. Two phases have been completed so far: a dormitory building, two academic buildings, a canteen, and a large sports complex. The third phase is currently under way, which includes the construction of another dormitory. The fourth phase is also planned, Piotr Parkhomchik said.
