GOMEL, 16 April (BelTA) – What kind of oil is used by restaurants of the Mak.by chain and the growing consumption of rapeseed oil were mentioned by Chairman of the Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospishcheprom Oleg Zhidkov during a meeting with the staff of OAO Gomel Fat Factory, BelTA has learned.
One of the questions from the audience concerned the popularization of rapeseed oil. “In our country a total of about 60,000 tonnes of all kinds of vegetable oils is sold in retail every year. Last year saw record high sales of rapeseed oil. Rapeseed oil accounted for 14.5% of the total oil sales. When we began addressing the issue of popularizing rapeseed oil in 2022, the figure was at 3.5%. Today it is 14.5%. In other words, it means that consumption is constantly growing,” said Oleg Zhidkov.
However, Oleg Zhidkov recalled that the task is to reach 25%. “All our enterprises are ready. These include you [Gomel Fat Factory], Bobruisk, Minsk, and a private producer in Brest Oblast,” the Belgospishcheprom head recounted.
“Today all Mak.by [chain restaurants] have switched to domestically produced rapeseed oil. It happened at the moment of their transformation. After all, the president’s task is to ensure exclusively Belarusian products,” Oleg Zhidkov emphasized.
