Belarusian private sector urged to be responsible, honest towards citizens, its own country

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – The private sector should be responsible and honest with regard to citizens and its own country, BelTA learned from Galina Lagunova, Deputy Chairwoman of the Economic Policy Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus.

The MP said: “The private sector should be responsible and honest with regard to citizens and the country the private sector works in. It is manifested as the honest payment of taxes, which are later spent on social benefits, on the development of infrastructure, healthcare, and education, on decent salaries for workers. It is manifested as contributions to charity projects if excessive profits are available. Naturally, the government is interested in preserving and developing these commercial entities and is always ready to consider their constructive proposals on improving the legislative framework. The government is always ready to lend a shoulder in time of need if you want.”

The MP stressed that the effective legislation contains a considerable list of measures designed to support private companies in various areas. Work to find new forms of cooperation, legislate stimulating mechanisms, and enable favorable legal conditions for development never stops. “A strategy on the development of small and medium private companies for the period till 2030 has been adopted in the republic. It represents the main guideline for forming and executing government programs in the sphere of state support for small and medium private companies, for drafting private sector development plans at the national level and the regional one. Its key goal is to form a flexible sector of the national economy that ensures innovative development, a high competitive ability, effective employment, and growing living standards of the population,” she noted.

“At the same time actions of individual representatives of the business community to separate and discriminate citizens depending on their political convictions are unacceptable. One can see where such trends may lead if one takes a look at the history of the mankind. Work honestly, develop yourselves and help the country become better and more successful. Tell the government what needs to be improved, how the legal framework should be amended. You will be heard and you will be met halfway. But this movement should be reciprocal. The state and the private sector may not be friends but they have to be partners. All of us understand what depends on all of us, in what country all of us will live in the future. Let's work together to make it more comfortable for the future generations,” Galina Lagunova concluded.
