Belarus president's merch store draws crowds

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – The president's merch is selling like hot cakes, therefore more products will be ordered, Chairwoman of the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom Tatiana Lugina told reporters an hour after the opening of the first store selling clothes featuring Aleksandr Lukashenko's quotes, BelTA has learned.

“An hour flew by like one minute. The store is overcrowded. People take not just 3-5 items, but 40 boxes. At the end of the day we will analyze our sales. We are already planning to order more items with the most popular quotes,” Tatiana Lugina said.

She also noted that, given the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, a lot of people buy merch as a gift.

Tatiana Lugina admitted she was happy to see a long queue at the store launch. "You understand how many people in our country want to show solidarity with the general policy of the state, even through such a form,” she noted. Tatiana Lugina said that the most popular clothing items are those with the phrase "Get Undressed and Work." Most often it is the choice of male buyers. But elder people, including couples, give preferred to "Never Give Up Your Loved One”. The phrase "Corner Me With Facts” is currently less popular.

In the run up to the New Year holidays, proceeds from sales will partially go to charity, to buy gifts for children.

New surprises are promised. “The project has just been launched. We are planning more novelties ahead of the New Year festivities. We have not revealed everything at once to keep our clients guessing. We have more to offer,” the Bellegprom head added.

As for new outlets, it will depend on the success of the pilot project. “We will be looking at the demand. If we see that there is a need to branch out regionally, we will surely do it. We have decided to start with one store to make sure products are in demand. We want to surprise our clients as part of this project,” Tatiana Lugina said.
