MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) - The tax system should be fair, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he appointed Dmitry Kiyko Taxes and Duties Minister, BelTA has learned.
“As for the tax system, I think we have a fairly stable system in place. However, it is worth taking a fresh look at what should be improved. I also advise you against being carried away by excessive market categories. We need a proper life and proper operation of enterprises. A lot depends on taxation, sometimes everything. Analyze our tax system with fresh eyes and make suggestions and remarks if we need to make something better. This is a crucial area of work,” the head of state said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that the tax system should be fair. “I cannot say that our system is totally fair. Look at the benefits, which we have 'imposed' on many enterprises and people that should not have them. We need to provide support and benefits to those who need them. If they don't, they must work hard and contribute to the country. At this time, we need this support very much in all areas,” the Belarusian leader said.
