Security Councils of Belarus, Russia to discuss ways of countering challenges, threats

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia will discuss joint action to counter challenges and threats during the consultations between the Security Councils, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich told the media after the meeting of Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 29 June, BelTA has learned.

When talking about the upcoming consultations of the Security Councils of Belarus and Russia and the talks with his Russian counterpart, Aleksandr Volfovich noted: "Our working meeting is about the exchange of views. Our colleagues from the Russian Federation have a huge experience. The challenges and threats, the risks facing Russia today are similar to those facing the Republic of Belarus. The Security Councils of the two countries are discussing the international and regional security and ways to counter the challenges and threats, the countermeasures.”

"Today's working meeting will focus on these issues. Following the meeting, we will inform the head of state about the agreements we have reached," he said.

"Today we will also touch on military cooperation, which is very intensive and very close. The topics of military-technical cooperation and some other security issues will be on the agenda,” Aleksandr Volfovich said.
