Belarusian FM: Poland's political demands are unreasonable

MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) - Belarus considers Poland's political demands as unreasonable, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said on the air of the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“Poles are smart people. They will not do the things that Lithuania and Latvia have done. They will not cut off last ties. They have put forward purely political demands to us, which we do not consider justified. Even so, it is important to talk rather than try to achieve your goals by ultimatums. Belarus will never go for that,” Maksim Ryzhenkov noted.

Trying to weave intrigues against Belarus and China, the Polish side, according to the minister, only shows itself as an unreliable partner in the eyes of other EU countries. “They are doing a disservice to the European Union by not wanting to engage, trying to get some concessions from Belarus,” he said.

Maksim Ryzhenkov emphasized that illegal migration has become a serious problem for the European Union. The problem with the transit of goods across the Polish border has a negative impact on the relations between European and Chinese companies. “They've decided to hold everyone hostage. I think that as soon as they see that it doesn't work, they will abandon this policy and will start to cooperate with us. Let me remind you that the president made an offer to them to come to Belarus, to see everything, to talk and discuss things,” the Belarusian diplomat noted.
