Belarus' responsible attitude to CSTO membership pointed out

MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – Belarus displays a responsible and judicious attitude towards its participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization, BelTA learned from Igor Lavrinenko, Deputy Chairman of the National Security Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Chairman of the Social, Economic, and Legal Affairs Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. Igor Lavrinenko took part in a session of the Social, Economic, and Legal Affairs Commission of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly on 2 March.

According to the source, participants of the session discussed a number of recommendations and model laws, which the CSTO member states are encouraged to consider in order to improve their legislations. The discussion was vigorous. Remarks were made and proposals were put forward. All of them will be taken into account in the course of consequent work. These recommendations and model regulatory acts will be submitted to the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly for approval.

In particular, participants of the session discussed the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly's draft recommendations on improving the national laws of the CSTO member states on undesired migration, on regulating the turnover of virtual currencies, on regulating the operation of trusts in the CSTO member states, on seizing property from individuals and corporations during martial law (requisition) and in a state of emergency. Participants of the session also discussed ways to improve the organizational, legal, and methodical aspects of keeping in mind provisions of the model regulatory acts in the course of improving national laws in a CSTO member state.
