St. Tadeusz Church in the lens of BelTA’s photographer

The Catholic Church of St. Tadeusz is located in the village of Luchai, Postavy District of Vitebsk Oblast. It was built in the Baroque and Classicism style in 1766-1776.
At that time, a clock was installed on the facade between the towers. The walls and vaults of the church were adorned with elaborate frescoes in the grisaille technique, imitating sculptural stucco. In 1811, the church gained an organ, which continues to captivate parishioners with its sound during services to this day.
The church served as a place of worship for various denominations until 1948. The reconstruction of this magnificent church began in 1990. In 2008, a monument to Pope Benedict XVI was installed near it, the first of its kind in the world.
This majestic church in Vitebsk Oblast is included in the list of Belarus' historical and cultural heritage.
