Belarus, Russia’s Krasnodar Territory double exchange trade

MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) – Exchange trade volume for enterprises of Russia’s Krasnodar Territory on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) hit $2.7 million in January-August 2025, a twofold increase year-on-year, the BUCE press service told BelTA.

Purchases of Belarusian butter made up over 45% of the total trade turnover. In addition, Krasnodar Territory participants of exchange trading actively bought sawn timber and milk powder. The share of these product groups in the total transaction structure was 33% and 19% respectively. In turn, Belarusian companies used the BUCE platform to buy specialized paper products from Krasnodar Territory. The information was released during an educational webinar on the use of exchange instruments in sales and procurement activities. The webinar was organized by BUCE for municipal enterprises of Krasnodar Territory.

In order to further increase the mutual trade turnover, the parties intend to expand the range of goods covered by exchange transactions between Belarus and Krasnodar business entities. At the same time, due to the significant share of the agricultural industry in the regional economy, the main focus will be on agricultural goods. In particular, Belarus is primarily interested in importing grain and oil crops, including wheat, barley, corn, and sunflower, as well as processed products such as sunflower meal and cake.

As for supplies to Krasnodar Territory, high demand is expected for milk powder and cream, amino acids, and meat semi-finished products made in Belarus. The regional export support center, which has signed a cooperation agreement with BUCE, intends to assist with attracting Krasnodar Territory sellers and buyers to the exchange platform.

Since the beginning of 2025, ten new participants of exchange trading from Krasnodar Territory have joined BUCE. As of 3 September 2025, 91 business entities from this Russian region were accredited with the exchange. Among the eight regions of the Southern Federal District of Russia, Krasnodar Territory is currently second only to Rostov Oblast in the total amount of BUCE transactions.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange was established in 2004, with its first trading session conducted in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest mercantile exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its key function is to assist Belarusian companies with exporting their products and assist foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. The commodity exchange facilitates trade in metals, timber, agricultural products, and a broad choice of industrial and consumer goods.
