MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) – Belarus increased the export of meat products by more than 1.4 times in the past five years, BelTA learned from Head of the Main Directorate for Foreign Economic Activity of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry Ksenia Meleshko on the sidelines of the Belarus Meat Industry forum.
Ksenia Meleshko emphasized that Belarus has long been fully self-sufficient in food. “The level of self-sufficiency in meat thanks to domestic production is about 140%. It is a high indicator. We not only fully meet domestic demand but also actively develop export since meat products contribute to the growth of foreign currency earnings in the country,” she said.
In the past five years Belarus significantly increased export shipments: in physical terms the volume grew by more than 1.4 times from 2020 to 2025. “At the same time, we plan to further increase export, focusing on high-value-added products: boneless beef, meat and sausage products, semi-finished products, and canned meat. It is these products that allow our producers to earn greater profits,” the head of the main directorate noted.
The Belarus Meat Industry forum is taking place in Minsk under the auspices of the Agriculture and Food Ministry. “We have gathered many international experts and speakers, and representatives of our main meat processing enterprises are present. All of it is being done so that enterprises can share the best practices and find useful solutions to further increase the efficiency of Belarus’ meat industry,” Ksenia Meleshko said.
Today about 50 speakers turned up for the event, including international ones, and 350 delegates, including representatives of meat processing enterprises interested in developing and improving production efficiency.
The Belarus Meat Industry forum is taking place in Minsk on 16-17 April.
