Ambassador: Iran eyes joint tractor production project with Belarus

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) - Iran is interested in setting up a joint tractor production facility with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Alireza Sanei said in an interview with BelTA as the country cerebrates the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on 10 February.

“The joint production project is in the initial stage of development,” said the diplomat.

As it has been reported, Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber visited Minsk Tractor Plant in the autumn of 2023, accompanied by Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko. The high-ranking guest inspected the line-ups of agricultural, road and automobile machines produced in Belarus.

The 17th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Belarus and Iran with the participation of Iranian Minister for Industry, Mining and Trade Dr. Seyed Mohammad Atabak took place in Minsk in January of this year. As Belarusian Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov noted during the event, Belarus and Iran have a lot to strive for in terms of trade and economic relations.

“We are interested not just in the supply of Belarusian goods, in agricultural machinery (tractors, harvesters, trailed, attachments). We are seriously considering Iranian facilities and Iranian partners in terms of organization and transfer of competencies for the manufacture of knowledge-intensive products, for example, farm machines,” the minister said.
