Russian Olympic Committee curious about 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 infrastructure

MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) – Representatives of the Russian Olympic Committee will get familiar with the infrastructure of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019, the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

Before visiting the infrastructure the next year's games will use the Russian delegation met with top officials of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus. Director General of the Russian Olympic Committee Vladimir Sengleyev suggested that Belarusian and Russian athletes should meet for a joint training session for the sake of adaptation ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

The Olympic committees of Belarus and Russia agreed to continue developing an education program for Belarusian coaches at premises of the Russian International Olympic University. During the meeting First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Andrei Astashevich thanked the Russian Olympic Committee for assistance with training personnel from Belarus and Russia. As many as 28 Belarusians have been able to get career development training in the Russian university in the last two academic years.

The Russian Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Committee of Belarus signed a cooperation memorandum on 24 March 2011. First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Andrei Astashevich and Belarusian Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk met with President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov in Moscow in July 2018. The sides agreed to expand cooperation in sport.
