Milano Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee set up in Italy

MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) - The Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 has been set up in Italy, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

The organizing committee will be composed of 22 representatives of international sport and local authorities, including mayors of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, the cities which will host the competitions, and also President of the Italian National Olympic Committee Giovanni Malago. Vincenzo Novari has been named chief executive of the organizing committee.

The International Olympic Committee's Coordination Commission chaired by Sari Essayah (Finland) has launched its first visit to Italy.

Italy hosted Winter Olympics Games in 1956 and 2006.

Beijing will host the Winter Olympic Games in 2022.
