MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) - Mikhail Markhel will stay as head coach of the Belarusian national football team. The decision was made at the meeting of the executive committee of the Belarusian Football Federation on 9 December, BelTA has learned.
Chairman of the Belarusian Football Federation Vladimir Bazanov said that the country's team failed to make it to the finals of the European Championship, but did well in the second season of the UEFA League of Nations. Until the last round, the Belarusians had a chance to qualify for League B, but eventually finished second in the group.
As for the U-21 team, its head coach Sergei Yaromko left his post. His team played in a very strong qualification group of the European Youth Championship, finishing fourth behind the Netherlands, Portugal and Norway.
