MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Former world number one Victoria Azarenka plans to take part in the Credit One Bank Invitational in Charleston, the United States, BelTA has learned.
The event which will begin on 23 June will feature 16 players. Apart from Victoria Azarenka, currently ranked 58th, Charleston will welcome world number four Sofia Kenin of the United states, Canada's Bianca Andreescu (World No.6), U.S. world number 13 Madison Keys, Alison Riske (19), Sloane Stephens (37), 2016 Olympic champion Monica Puig (90) from Puerto Rico and others. The players will be divided into two teams to play 16 singles matches and eight doubles contests. The tournament will be played without fans.
The international tennis organizations (ITF, ATP, WTA) had earlier canceled all the official competitions through August because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
