Vitebsk Oblast to sign cooperation agreements with legislators from four Russian regions

VITEBSK, 28 June (BelTA) – The Vitebsk Oblast Council of Deputies intends to sign cooperation agreements with legislative bodies of four Russian regions at the 8th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Vitebsk Oblast Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentiev.

Plans are in place to strengthen ties with the Kaliningrad Oblast Duma, the Novgorod Oblast Duma, the Pskov Oblast Council of Deputies, and the Rostov Oblast Legislative Assembly. “We have worked with these regions for a while, we know each other well, especially our colleagues from the Russian regions that neighbor Vitebsk Oblast. We will not have to develop cooperation from scratch. We have already worked together in various fields, including military and patriotic upbringing, search expeditions, and joint activities of youth organizations,” Vladimir Terentiev stressed. The signing of official agreements will strengthen the cooperation between regional legislative bodies and make it systemic, he believes.

All in all, Vitebsk Oblast plans to sign five documents to expand cooperation with Russian regions at the 8th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. The Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee and the government of Stavropol Krai will adopt a plan of action for 2021-2024 to execute the agreement on cooperation in trade, economy, science, technology, social affairs, and culture that was concluded in June 2017.

In early 2021, the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee and the administration of Pskov Oblast signed an action plan for 2021-2023 to execute the agreement between the regional executive bodies that was signed by the heads of the two regions in September 2015.

As of early 2021, the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee had around 30 agreements with Russian regions. Another 110 agreements had been signed between districts and cities of Vitebsk Oblast and Russia.
