Mazalov confronted the tank forces of the Nazi invaders. Russian writer and war correspondent Konstantin Simonov was a witness of those events.

His essay for the Izvestia newspaper, and also Pavel Troshkin’s photos that captured the destroyed German tanks made the Buinichi field a real symbol of courage and bravery, and the fame of the feat of the defenders of Mogilev went far beyond the borders of Belarus and Russia.

Representatives of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia together with Mogilev Oblast Governor Anatoly Isachenko honored the memory of the Red Army soldiers and civilians killed during the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence, and laid flowers at the memorial stone to Konstantin Simonov. Here, Bogdan Kovalev, a young student of Mogilev Children's School of Arts No. 1, recited Konstantin Simonov's poem “Tank” for the participants of the event.

A large-scale construction project is underway on Buinichi Field at present. The future Museum of Glory of Mogilev Oblast will be built here. The representatives of the delegations together with Anatoly Isachenko got familiar with the construction, the future interior of the new museum.
