MOSCOW, 19 May (BelTA) – Around 200,000 citizens of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states have already taken advantage of the mobile application COVID-19 Free Travel, Aide to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Iya Malkina told a press briefing following a meeting of the EEC Council on 18 May, BelTA has learned.
“Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank Tigran Sargsyan informed the EEC Council about the operation of the COVID-19 Free Travel mobile application,” Iya Malkina said. “As many as 200,000 people are using the application already. Around 75,000 citizens received their coronavirus test results via the app in the past month. The project is running in four countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia. Kazakhstan will join it on 24 May,” she added.
“It should be noted that personal data of the app users are well protected, there are no cross-border data transmissions,” Iya Malkina pointed out.
The EEC Council convened online. Belarus was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko.
