Sikorsky: West keeps choking Belarusian aviation

MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – The West keeps choking Belarusian aviation. Director of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry Artyom Sikorsky made the statement during a press conference on 3 November while talking about the possible disconnection of the Belarusian air traffic control enterprise Belaeronavigatsia from the European database, BelTA has learned.

The official said: “European partners continue choking Belarusian aviation, their grip remains strong and they have essentially switched to not quite legal actions. The problem does exist now. We are in a dialogue with European partners. We are told they have received a political command totally unrelated to our cooperation. It is possibly the most unpleasant part when aviation is used as a tool of unfair competition and pressure.”

In his words, people have been deprived of the freedom of movement and the right to transit Belarus in any way is being taken away now. “We continue working with European partners to resolve the problem. But unfortunately it is in a critical dimension as our partners say,” Artyom Sikorsky said.
