MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) - Interparliamentary interaction between Belarus and China is at a high level, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko stated during a meeting with Li Xi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, in Minsk on 22 September, BelTA has learned.

The Speaker stated that developing an all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership with the People's Republic of China is a priority avenue of Belarus's foreign policy. The people of Belarus have always been loyal and reliable friends of the Chinese people.

“Thanks to the leaders of our countries, Minsk and Beijing have created an effective model of cooperation, which is rightly considered an example of interstate relations today. During the recent meetings of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping (two meetings this year alone), the strength and inviolability of the Belarusian-Chinese friendship were confirmed, and interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation was expressed,” Igor Sergeyenko said. “Our main task is to translate these high-level agreements into practical results.”

Igor Sergeyenko emphasized that Belarus takes pride in the achievements of the People's Republic of China in building a modernized nation, noting that he himself has visited China multiple times and witnessed firsthand the rapid pace of the country's development.

Under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of China, many important reforms have been launched to stimulate the country's social and economic development,” Igor Sergeyenko noted.

According to him, Belarusian-Chinese cooperation has been growing dynamically. The basis of the strategic partnership is the convergence of development strategies of the two countries. This fully corresponds to the realization of the global goal put forward by President Xi Jinping of China to build a community with a common future for mankind.

"Minsk supports Beijing's initiatives on global development, security, and civilization, which are of great significance for resolving the challenges facing the world today," the Speaker said.

He added that Belarus was the first country whose head of state openly expressed support for the proposal put forward by the Chinese president regarding global governance based on the principles of equality and justice. “We are ready to join this initiative both within the SCO and in the UN  making every effort to build a new type of international relations,” Igor Sergeyenko stated.
