Russia shows interest in Belarus' emergencies training practices

MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) - Representatives of the Educational and Scientific-Technical Department of the Ministry of the Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) of Russia got familiar with the training of specialists for emergencies bodies and units of Belarus during the visit to the University of Civil Protection of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry on 12 March, official representative of the university Andrei Sadovsky told BelTA.

“The Russian delegation learned about the main historical stages in the development of the Belarusian university, were shown the technical equipment of classrooms and laboratories, as well as software products developed at the university and used in the educational process. The colleagues from Russia visited the container-type firing range for training gas smoke detectors, and also practical training in mountain climbing,” said Andrei Sadovsky.

During the visit, head of the university of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry Ivan Polevoda met with Director of the Educational and Scientific-Technical Department of the EMERCOM of Russia Alexander Bondar. The parties discussed the exchange of experience in training the personnel emergencies services, development and implementation of technologies and software for educational programs and training processes for the emergencies units.

The delegation of the EMERCOM of Russia arrived in Belarus on 11 March. Deputy Emergencies Minister Andrei Yurzhits also met with the delegation. Russian specialists visited the ministry's Education Center of Life Safety, an exhibition of rescue equipment and firefighter-rescue gear made in Belarus and the Fire and Rescue Museum.

Interaction between the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry and the EMERCOM of Russia in emergencies prevention and mitigation is stable and multifaceted. In addition to the implementation of bilateral agreements in the area, there are numerous contacts at the level of both government agencies and regions, and multilateral cooperation developing within the framework of international organizations.
