Overchuk hails Union State as model of integration for entire Eurasia

MOSCOW, 23 September (BelTA) - Over the 25 years the Union State has become a model of integration for the entire Eurasian space, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said at the commemorative concert Every Third at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow on 23 September, BelTA has learned.

"The Great Victory demonstrated to the entire world our unity, an unyielding spirit, and a readiness to fight to the end for truth and justice. In difficult years, these qualities helped us to endure. Belarus and Russia have carried their brotherhood and friendship into the 21st century. Today our peoples are looking confidently towards a future in which this historical unity continues,” Alexey Overchuk noted.

Today, this unity is manifested in concrete actions and achievements, he added. "As Aleksandr Lukashenko said: we are creating a unique entity in the form of the Union State, which has no historical precedent. We are treading an untrodden path, and it is not easy,” the deputy prime minister said. “Over the 25 years of the Union State's existence, we have built an association that has become a model of integration for the entire Eurasia. “Today we can say with confidence that our joint development truly encompasses all spheres of life. We are working tirelessly to ensure that every resident of Russia and Belarus feels at home across the entire territory of our Union.”

“Memory of the war is a lesson for all generations, and peace is the highest value that must be cherished and protected,” Alexey Overchuk said.

The commemorative concert Every Third is taking place at the State Kremlin Palace. Six thousand people have gathered in the Great Hall. The concert featured both well-known Soviet songs about the war and Victory, as well as modern compositions on military themes to commemorate every third person who died in the Great Patriotic War. The program included unique archival footage and photo documents, with the poetic basis being Anatoly Vertinsky's Requiem for Every Fourth. The premiere of the program took place in Moscow on Poklonnaya Hill in May 2024. To mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a series of commemorative concerts were held at the Palace of the Republic in Minsk in April 2025. They were attended by spectators from all regions of Belarus.
