Over 1,500 trucks stuck at Belarusian-Lithuanian border on way to EU

MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – As of 18:00 over 1,500 trucks were stuck at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border waiting for their turn to enter the European Union, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel of the State Border Committee of Belarus.

According to the source, the queues are caused by a failure of the customs clearance software that border checkpoints on the Lithuanian side experienced in the morning on 23 March.

No information when normal operation will be resumed has been sent to the Belarusian side yet.

At present all the Belarusian border checkpoints are filled with the vehicles the Belarusian side has cleared. The drivers wait for the Lithuanian side to reopen the border. There are about 600 trucks stuck at the Kamenny Log checkpoint, 470 trucks in Kotlovka, 360 trucks in Benyakoni, and 190 trucks in Privalka.
