Online session of Supreme Eurasian Economic Council scheduled for 21 May

MOSCOW, 18 May (BelTA) – The heads of state of the Eurasian Economic Union member states will participate in an online session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on 21 May, BelTA learned from Iya Malkina, Aide to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

There are 15 items on the agenda. The heads of state are expected to discuss approaches to setting prices and tariffs on the Eurasian Economic Union's common market of natural gas. The establishment of tariffs on gas transportation from third countries into the union for the sake of domestic consumption will be discussed. The heads of state will also look into approaches to advancing trade and economic cooperation with the main partners of the Eurasian Economic Union in the medium term, cooperation of the EAEU member states in production of medications and pharmaceutical substances for medical applications.

The heads of state will hear out a report on results of the work to dismantle barriers on the Eurasian Economic Union's domestic market. They will be informed about how the member states comply with the rules that regulate trade in services. The realization of the main directions of the Eurasian Economic Union's international activities, common principles and rules of regulating the operation of natural monopolies, the state of competition on transboundary markets and measures to suppress violations will be high on the agenda as well.

Members of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will also look into the main guidelines of the macroeconomic policy of the member states in 2021-2022, a list of measures meant to unify the legislation of the Eurasian Economic Union member states in matters concerning the testing of varieties and seed farming of agricultural crops. Amendments to the plan on liberalizing the sector of property appraisal services will be reviewed as well as an agreement on joint measures to audit the transfer and distribution of sums of import customs duties, and their transfer to the state budgets of the EAEU member states.

Potential candidates for the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission will be presented before the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. Maksat Mamytkanov has been nominated for the position of the Minister for Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission. Temirbek Asanbekov has been nominated for the position of the Minister for Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
