No plans for dramatic changes in Belarus' Investigative Committee

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) - There will be no cardinal changes in the activities of the Investigative Committee of Belarus, Dmitry Gora, new Chairman of the Investigative Committee, told the media, BelTA has learned.

“The Investigative Committee was set up not that long ago. Of course, we will strive to improve its work, but there is no need for dramatic changes. There is always room for improvement but no need to shake the fundamental principles and foundations of the organization,” said the new head of the department.

Dmitry Gora said that he is well familiar with the investigative work, and that he knows people working in the Investigative Committee. “I think that it will not take much time to settle in and get the Investigative Committee move forward. Investigative work has its peculiar features. In the current situation we need to aim for uniformity, a unified approach in order to perform the tasks set forth before the committee in a timely and clear manner,” he said.

Dmitry Gora served as deputy prosecutor general before the new appointment.
