New IT lab to open at Belarusian-Russian University

MOGILEV, 31 August (BelTA) - A new IT-laboratory will open at Belarusian-Russian University on 2 September, head of the Automated Control Systems Department of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Belarusian-Russian University Anatoly Yakimov told BelTA.

The university has been successfully cooperating with the international IT company iTechArt since 2018. The laboratory has kicked off another stage in the university's long-term partnership with this major resident of the Hi-Tech Park. Thanks to such educational initiatives, several multidisciplinary laboratories of engineering profile, including those under the Union State project, have already been functioning on the basis of the educational institution.

The new laboratory is focused exclusively on the development of information technology and practice-oriented training for development engineers. “The educational initiative will be a great opportunity for students to learn more about the practical side of the profession. During the academic year, company employees will teach students Python programming, support and review thesis projects, and give lectures on top technologies,” Anatoly Yakimov said.

The lab is a modern classroom fitted for comfortable work. The room is equipped with 16 powerful computers, a multimedia tablet, tables for brainstorming and discussion, and comfortable orthopedic chairs. Plans are in place to organize programming meetups and marathons, hold classes in Java, Python, .Net, JavaScript, and other technologies.

Similar laboratories have been set up at Brest Technical University, Masherov Vitebsk State University, and Vitebsk State Technological University. P.M. Masherov and Vitebsk Technological University. Such projects help future development engineers to acquire practical skills and understand how to apply them in practice. “Theoretical knowledge gives only some idea about technologies, but only practice on high-quality equipment provides an opportunity to understand how it all works in real projects. We are glad to cooperate with Belarusian-Russian University and to have an opportunity to contribute to the development of higher education,” said Ruslan Kutynko, Manager for iTechArt Mogilev.

According to the head of the department, the ranks of its employees are regularly joined by talented graduates of the university. Belarusian-Russian University also sponsors events at the annual Mogilev Science Festival and the Interregional Programming Olympiad. Another result of the joint work was the development of a web platform for remote study of IT disciplines and participation in virtual laboratories.
